Our mysterious Paper Mache Monk has an unknown origin, with no signature, stamp, or marking to reveal its maker. It simply appeared in our family home in the early 1970s. Handmade with a foam mold covered in stained paper mache, the Monk features a hand-carved wooden face and wears a simple rope belt. Over the decades, it has been handled with care, though minor wear is visible, as shown in the photos. Standing approximately 1 foot tall with a 5" x 4" base, this extremely unique figure carries an aura of timeless mystery and craftsmanship, making it a fascinating collectible.
